The latest victory for students and workers against corporate power was the triumph of the Just Pay It! campaign against Nike. NUS is continually seeking to put pressure on multinational corporations who have a poor track record on worker rights and ethical purchasing by using the power of student purchasing.

NUS is a proud supporter of Playfair 2012, and we are campaigning for the organisers of the London Olympics and companies involved in the games to and ensure that workers producing sportswear and goods with the Olympic logo have their rights respected.

At NUS National Conference 2009, the Society & Citizenship zone was mandated to produce resources to assist students unions in campaigning for ethical investments within their College or University.

Students’ unions are leading the way in greening campuses and communities across the UK, according the latest findings of NUS’ green scheme. This year the scheme has found more inspirational initiatives than ever, including Fairtrade football tournaments, bra banks, bike generators, even an alternative allotment scheme for locals making use of student gardens.

NUS has a proud history of campaigning on issues affecting wider UK society as well as promoting peace, justice and equality around the world. Students have been at the forefront of campaigns from the ethical and enviromental issues to fighting the BNP. This section of the site is designed to help that continue by giving you, and consequently your students, access to the resources and information needed to fight social injustice.
