In advance of a review into constituency boundaries in December, which will reduce the number of constituencies to 600 by 2015, NUS have been meeting with the Cabinet Office and speaking to the Electoral Commission to help protect the student vote.

NUS has met with the Electoral Commission to discuss the problems that our members experienced on 6 May. Reports of long queues, inaccurate information being provide and people being denied the vote were widespread. We presented your feedback and will be working with them to ensure that changes are made.

Over 1.5 million 16 and 17 year olds are denied the vote in the United Kingdom. For years there has been a consistent demand from young people for Votes at 16, and a clear case for change. That case is now overwhelming.
