NUS Scotland launches new mental health report

Fri 18 Nov 2011

NUS Scotland launches a new research report, Breaking the Silence, which takes an in-depth look into student mental health issues across Scotland.

Welcome to NUS Scotland. My name is Robin Parker and, as President, I head up the 12 other executive officers who lead the organisation.

We’ve won much for students in the past two years. Our Budget for Bursaries campaign secured £15million in bursary support for FE students and we were able to save EMA. Our Reclaim Your Voice campaign resulted in over 85% of new members of the Scottish parliament committing to not introducing tuition fees, protecting graduate numbers and college places and improving student support.

We secured a third party tenancy deposit scheme, delivered £1,200 additional cash for the poorest students, abolished the graduate endowment, stopped the drinking age being raised to 21 and secured £2million in dedicated childcare funding for student parents.

Over the next year we’re prioritising getting more money into students’ pockets and making sure access to education is based on ability, not the ability to pay.

If you have any questions about our campaign, please get in touch.
