Higher Education Achievement Report
The HEAR is a means for recording student achievement in higher education (HE) and is intended to provide more detailed information about a student’s learning and achievement than the traditional degree classification system. It will be issued to students on graduation and will include and extend the existing record of academic achievement – the academic transcript and the European Diploma Supplement.
The HEAR will be rolling out into all institutions over the next few years. As such, NUS has been working with the Centre for Recording Achievement to ensure that students' unions are able to engage fully in the development and delivery of the HEAR.
The HEAR will affect different unions in different ways, but most will have some involvement. This is due to the "Additional Information! section. This section will include information about the students' extra-curricula activites, much of which is run by the union. Course reps, volunteering and running societies are just a few examples.
Below are some useful resources to help unions along the way:
Education Information explaining the HEAR
HEAR action list - this document outlines some of the key things that unions should be doing when it comes to devloping a HEAR.
HEAR Guidance document - this template document is for students' unions to upload onto their websites, in order to help promote its purpose to students. It can be amended in certain places to suit the local needs to an institution.
