What’s happening during the #CutTheCosts Westminster lobby?

Students from across the UK are meeting their MPs in parliament on Tuesday 8 December, calling for politicians to take action to #CutTheCosts they face and tackle the growing crisis of student debt. Here’s a summary of what’s happening and what your SU can do to support the lobby.

There are a number of ways in which your students’ union can support the lobby. We’ve produced a handy campaign briefing - which details what you can do before, during and after the lobby, and the main campaign asks - which is available to download here.

There's also plenty more happening between Monday 7 - Friday 11 December as part of our #CutTheCosts Week of Action


So, what’s happening during lobby day?

11.00am – 1.00pm












 

Registration of lobbyists and rolling lobby briefings


During this time stewards will be available to support students to prepare for their meetings with MPs also the issue briefings provided. Please note that lobbying of MPs is not permitted before 11am.

11.00am - 12.00pm: Lobbyists based in London or the South East
 

12.00-1.00pm: Lobbyists based outside London

 

11.00am – 12.00pm: Committee Room 14


12.00 – 1.00pm: Committee Room 10

Escorts to Central Lobby/Portcullis House

Stewards to take lobbyists in small groups to either Central Lobby or Portcullis House (depending on where their MP meetings have been arranged).
 

Students who do not have pre-arranged appointments will be directed to Central Lobby to ‘green card’ their MP.
 

Committee Room 10 to either Central Lobby or Portcullis House
