NUS’ digital platform processes 353,000 votes over the last three weeks, with no reported problems.
Students’ union elections have been taking place across the country and more and more have been held through NUS’ UnionCloud platform.
The increase is largely due to the platform continuing to mature and the release of the self-nominations feature.
Students’ unions have also performed a huge drive to improve their data quality, with support from NUS’ Community Engagement team.
Feedback from unions has been very positive about the platform, with the user experience and student usability being cited as a major factors.
Orry Verducci, Digital Marketing Assistant at Salford SU, said: “Salford had a 40% increase on voter turnout, giving us our highest ever turnout.
“The success of this election is in part due to the fast track email voting functionality provided by UnionCloud, the ease of managing the election via UnionCloud, and the support provided to us throughout by the NUS digital support team.”
The UnionCloud platform has grown year-on-year since being launched in 2014, and is now used by approximately 50 students’ unions across the country.
