TSEP and QAA providing targeted peer support with new online programme

Wednesday 01-04-2015 - 15:39

Are you a student engagement practitioner? Do you want to develop and share your knowledge in quality and student engagement? Do you want to receive peer support from other student engagement practitioners?

The Student Engagement Partnership (TSEP) in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is providing an opportunity for staff with a quality and student engagement remit to receive targeted peer support through a new online programme. The programme is open to all student engagement practitioners within institutions and student unions and is particularly targeted at newer staff.

The programme will be held over a three week period, based on three online modules to complete and supported by webinars and discussion forums amongst other participants in the cohort. There will also be an opportunity to stay in touch with the participants in your cohort through further facilitated discussion forums designed to help you reflect on your learning and develop your practice. You can find further information on the programme online here.

In February, the programme completed its first cohort of participants. The programme is holding two more cohorts, with the next starting in April and the final cohort in the summer, enabling you to choose which month would be most convenient for you to participate. Each cohort will be limited to a number of 25 participants.

What did Cohort 1 participants say about the programme?

‘It has been perfectly timed for my new role to shore up some of what I've been learning & get clearer ideas of best practice. Very glad to have been involved’

‘The programme is broken down into sections, and the constant encouragement for us to consider how the training/knowledge would apply within our own contexts really embedded my learning’

‘The whole element of it being online has made the programme accessible. It was great to develop my knowledge and discuss and learn with others in similar roles and Being part of a community of those concerned with student engagement’.

Cohort 2 will start on Monday 13 April and run for three weeks. If you’re interested in taking part in the second cohort of the programme or if you have any questions, please email amelia.shawe@nus.org.uk and state your name, institution and why you would like to be a part of the programme.
