What is Faith and Belief fortnight?

Faith and Belief fortnight is NUS’ Campus Cohesion, Faith and Belief project’s contribution to the celebration of Interfaith Week.

Interfaith week is a special week providing a focal point to help open up faith and belief activities to a wider audience so that more and more people are made aware of the importance of this work and are able to participate in it.You can read more about Interfaith Week in England, Northern Ireland and Wales here and about Interfaith Week in Scotland here.

Why does NUS work on this?

Faith and Belief is an integral part of many students identity. Supporting students of faith and belief and meeting their diverse needs has been an increasingly important area of work for both students’ unions and institutions.A key part of our work is to increase interaction, understanding and learning amongst students and staff about the role of faith and belief in students’ lives.

So, when’s it happening?

Scotland established Inter Faith Week before the rest of the UK and it is normally held to coincide with St Andrew’s Day. In 2015, the week in Scotland will take place Sunday 22 November to Sunday 30 November. In the rest of the UK Interfaith Week is on Sunday 15 - Saturday 21 November. That’s why we decided to celebrate faith and belief across the fortnight.

What’s in the limited edition starter pack?

Not only are there four different poster designs, you’ll also receive a bag of badges and pack of specially designed players cards which can you use to get students talking about faith and belief – most importantly, the packs include bunting.
