In November we will be marching under the banner ‘United for Education’ to stand up for FE colleges, fight the marketization of HE, and to show solidarity with international students and staff. Help us mobilise students from across the country to attend on #Nov19.
Further and higher education is under attack and it’s time for students to take a stand. Our members have told us to unite in defence of free, good quality post-16 education, accessible to all.
We will be making our voices heard loud and clear by holding a national demonstration in central London in November. Alongside the University and College Union (UCU), we are organising thousands of students and staff to show that we are United for Education.
There are a number of ways you can help mobilise students in the run up to the day.
Come to the Road to the Demo event in London on Monday. This training and mobilising event will give officers and staff an opportunity to prepare for the demo and share ideas on how to make the most out of your local campaigns.
There will be a series of regional activist network events throughout October – more information to follow.
Get active on social media: add a Twibbon to your profile picture, update your Facebook cover picture and sign join the Facebook event.
We also want you to share your personal reasons for marching on the hashtag #Nov19 – be it government cuts to your local college, restrictions to student visas, or the huge debt that you’ll face on graduation.
Let us know how your SU is building for the demo. For a comprehensive guide on how to get bums on seats down to the demo please see our Getting your students to the demo briefing. But we want to hear from you! How many students are you planning on bringing along on #Nov19? Will you be having a demo stall during welcome week? Could you do with an extra pair of hands there? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know.
Keep an eye on the national demo hub as we build grassroots support in the build up to #Nov19!
