So, the – extended – EU referendum voter registration guillotine has finally fallen, and you’ve got your students registered to vote. Awesome. But the work doesn’t stop here! Now how are you going to ensure that they take the next vital step and actually use that vote in this once-in-a-generation referendum that will shape our future?
Turning RTV into GOTV
Students’ Unions across the UK have done remarkable register to vote (RTV) work to ensure that their students don’t miss out on the opportunity to have their say in whether we should remain in or leave to European Union. From #GenerationEUVote stalls and DemocraTEA events, to mock referendums and Question Time debates, to ‘A Pizza Europe’ events and Eurovision parties, SUs have not only been registering their students, but encouraging debate and voter education on what’s at stake. Now we must continue this excellent work, and also get out beyond our campuses and into our communities to get out this vital vote.
