Every year NUS publishes policy proposals from the five NUS Zone Committees (Union Development, Further Education, Higher Education, Welfare and Society and Citizenship) that will go to National Conference.
Along with these we also publish the proposal for the Priority Motion. As National President I am responsible for writing this proposal. As in previous years, I have consulted with the National Executive Council (NEC) on what the content of this motion should be. But I want to make sure that students’ unions have their voice heard directly.
I emailed every students’ union President today to say that I want students’ unions to have a say more often in the proposals and resources that come from NUS. That’s why I’m opening this flash consultation to get your views on the challenges you think we need to meet in the year ahead for students’ unions. This hasn’t been done before, and I’m the first national president to try it. Whilst it’s a very quick consultation, I hope in the weeks ahead we can work to ensure similar things like this mean it’s easier for all students’ unions to be heard.
The consultation is open now and closes at 5pm on Sunday 17 January. Please do get in touch if you have any questions but hopefully the questions mean it is easy to take part.
