We’ve teamed up with the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) Association to offer a combined NUS extra and ISIC card to UK students.
From today (Tuesday 1 March), all students who purchase an NUS extra card, the £12 discount and lifestyle card, will have the added benefit of it also being an International Student Identity Card (ISIC).
ISIC is recognised in 130 countries and is the only internationally accepted proof of student status. Previously the ISIC card has been available as an optional upgrade to the NUS extra card at a cost of £2.99 (£12 to buy without an NUS extra card) but now it’s free as part of NUS extra.
In addition to acting as an internationally recognised form of student ID, ISIC also gives cardholders access to more than 42,000 discounts worldwide. This means NUS extra cardholders will now have access to discounts from our international partners include Microsoft, Macy’s, and Target.com. ISIC also gives access to discounts on airfares on many of the world’s leading airlines, train tickets and rail passes, hostels and hotels and attractions.
This is all in addition to the 200 top UK discounts that NUS extra already has to offer, including 10 per cent off at the Co-operative food, 5 per cent off at Amazon and 25 per cent off the student ticket price at Odeon.
Richard Brooks, NUS Vice President (Union Development) said: “Over the last ten years the NUS extra card has established itself as the market leading discount and lifestyle card for students. This partnership with ISIC to make it a combined card is really exciting, and will provide NUS extra cardholders with so many added benefits worldwide.”
We first introduced the NUS extra card in 2006 as part of a strategy to provide students’ unions with new sources of income and support, and to help students save money every day. There are currently over 860,000 active cardholders and the addition of ISIC will make it an even more attractive offering for money savvy students.
Proceeds from the sale of NUS extra are fed straight back into the student movement helping to fund the important work we do; helping to improve the lives of students through campaigns such as #CutTheCosts, and to give students a powerful voice.
The NUS extra discount card costs £12 for 12 months, and is available to all students aged over 16. For more details or to buy an NUS extra card visit www.nus.org.uk/extra, and more information about the partnership can be found on NUS Connect here.
