Nominations open for WNEC, DPC and NEC 2nd Place

Wednesday 02-03-2016 - 17:31

Nominations are now open for WNEC, DPC and NEC 2nd Place!

NUS Wales National Executive Committee (WNEC)

NUS Wales NEC is made up of 17 members. These are:

  • President
  • Deputy President
  • Six liberation officers (LGBT+ have two officers, with one vote between them)
  • Block of seven: four representatives elected at NUS Wales Conference, and three elected at NUS Wales Zone Conference
  • NUS UK NEC 2nd Place
  • A representative of National Society of Apprentices Wales

Three students were previously elected to the NUS Wales National Executive Committee (WNEC) during the autumn NUS Wales Zone Conference in November. They were as follows:

Fflur Elin (Women’s place)

Stephen Hughes (Further Education place)

Carmen Ria Smith (Open place)

There are four other positions available and these positions make up a larger ‘block of seven’ executive officers who largely hold the NUS Wales President and Deputy President to account. This ‘block’ sits alongside the six liberation campaign officers, the President and the Deputy President on the NUS Wales National Executive Committee. The WNEC is the political leadership of NUS Wales.

Closing date for WNEC is 5pm on Wednesday 9 March 2016

NUS UK National Executive Council 2nd Place for Wales

Much like WNEC, the National Executive Council (NEC) is the political leadership of the National Union of Students. As ‘2nd place’, the person who is elected will join the new NUS Wales President in representing students in the nation.

Closing date for NUS NEC 2nd Place is 2pm on Wednesday 9 March 2016

NUS Wales Democratic Procedures Committee (DPC)

The NUS Wales Democratic Procedures Committee oversees all NUS Wales democratic proceedings, such as debates on policy. The Committee takes complaints on any issues a delegate has on the democratic running of Conference, and issue rulings. This work is done with the acting returning officer for elections, who is the interpreter of the rules and final arbiter in any election disputes. The Committee is made up of a maximum of three students.

Closing date for NUS Wales DPC is 2pm on Wednesday 9 March 2016

All elected position holders will take office from 1st July 2016. They are all part-time unpaid volunteers.

If you are interested in applying for any of the above positions, please click here to access the Conference Hub, where you can find the nomination forms for each of the above.
