The National Executive Council met on Wednesday 4 December and received reports on the priority work, zones, sections, liberation and nations. The Officers all gave an update on their work since the last meeting and the councillors asked questions of them.
The NEC received an update on the Estimates process which included the timeline of member engagement and approval. The Estimates will be submited to the Strategic Conversation event in February for members to input in and then to the next NEC and NUS UK Board meetings in March to approve before they are published for National Conference. Students' Unions have the opportunity to submit challenges to the Estimates which will be debated at National Conference in April.
Finally at the end of the meeting NEC debated interim policy that was submitted as motions by council members.
The policy passed included:
- Anti-Casualisation and Living Wage speaking tour
- Standing up for sex workers, supporting the decriminalisation of sex work
- Kurdish Solidarity
- International Students and the NHS.
You can find the details of these pieces of policy here.
The next meeting of the NEC will be on Wednesday 4 March 2015 at 11:00.
