We’re excited to announce that Crystal Lameman and Sara Parkin will be the keynote speakers at our first ever Student Sustainability Summit, delivered in partnership with EAUC and People & Planet.
At the Student Sustainability Summit, hundreds of students will be coming together to take action on sustainability and social justice. Along with interactive workshops on a range of crucial topics, we’ll also be hearing from experts and activists from around the world.
We can’t think of two people better placed to speak on finding solutions to the challenges we face than Crystal and Sara.
Crystal Lameman is a member of the Indigenous Environmental Network, campaigning against the fossil fuel industry in Canada. As a member of Beaver Lake Cree Nation, she launched legal action in 2008 aimed at protecting their traditional lands and treaty rights.
Her dedication to opposing destructive tar sands extraction is an inspiration to the global sustainability movement. We can’t wait to hear what she has to say to students leading grassroots resistance across the UK.
Sara Parkin is one of the founding members of the incredibly influential Forum For The Future. Since then, she also founded the trailblazing Masters in Leadership For Sustainable Development, as well as authoring the acclaimed The Positive Deviant, exploring what makes a good leader in sustainability.
To close a summit on using education to shape a sustainable future, and creating a new wave of leadership year after year after year, Sara’s insights will be invaluable.
Join us at the first ever Student Sustainability Summit on 23 March at Leeds University Union, where Crystal and Sara will be joined by hundreds of students ready to take leadership on one of today’s most crucial social justice issues.
