Nominations are currently open for all NUS Full Time Officer positions - including National President, the five Vice Presidents, Liberation officers and International Students’ Officer. If you’re thinking of standing, here’s a handy list of the information you’ll need to provide us with during the nominations process.
You’ll need to provide us with your personal details, including the name of your students’ union.
You should read and understand the conditions for eligibility for the position that you want to stand for. This can be found on the conference hub for each conference.
Any individual member of NUS can stand for election – this includes students aged over 16 or sabbatical officers at a member students union or association affiliated to NUS.
Evidence of student or officer status
Candidates need to provide one of the following proof of status documents. This can be uploaded into your nomination form.
- Letter from your institution confirming your student or officer status
- Letter from your students’ union/guild/association confirming your student or officer status
- Letter confirming that you are a member of an NUS Committee
- Scan of your valid student card, which clearly shows the name of your institution and the expiration date
Each candidate for a full time role must be nominated by at least ten nominators. Each of these nominators must be from a different constituent member of NUS (a constituent member is a students’ union/ guild/association affiliated to NUS).
You’ll need to provide evidence of student or sabbatical status for each nominator.
Manifesto and statement
This is your chance to introduce yourself and explain why you should be elected to the position.
You can submit a manifesto and a political description or slogan. You can also submit a head and shoulders photo and a short biography for the elections booklet.
Diversity Monitoring Form
As part of our aim in improving the diversity of our committees we monitor diversity information.
The nominations period for President and Vice President positions close on Wednesday 1 March at 12 noon. Nomination forms can be found online here.
If you’re not looking to stand for election to a full time role but do still want to get involved with NUS’ democracy, you can find out more about our volunteer roles here.
