I’m pleased that NUS are acting as a Trustees’ week partner and supporting an exciting programme of events, which will support good governance.
The week kicks off today with NCVO’s Trustee conference which I know lots of unions are attending. Throughout the week organisations will be running exciting and specialist events which may be of interest to unions - including a look at trustees and strategy, how to attract the best trustees and finance training for trustees. For more information get on to the Trustees’ Week website.
NUS will also be undertaking activity to support SU boards across and support development against Quality Students’ Unions.
This trustees week at NUS:
- Wednesday 4th - Sharing new resources on trustee board review on NUS Connect
- Thursday 5th - Hosting a webinar looking at how best to support the induction and transition of officer teams
- Friday 6th -Offering a day of one-to-one Skype surgeries with our expert preferred suppliers, the charities commission and NUS consultants. These are allocated on first come first serve basis so don’t miss out! If you have a specific issue you might be interested in getting advice about, you can book a spot by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, who will help you find the right person to Skype with.
NUS is also in the process of planning its annual trustees event which will take place in early 2016 – more information on this will be announced soon.
I’m looking forward to seeing some of you at SUs Local at the end of the month. Students’ Unions Local are specially-designed one day events created to meet the needs of officers and staff in students’ unions. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up with colleagues in the movement, share best practice and make new contacts. Bring a trustee whynot.
You can trust me to support your trustees,
