Five Ideas… reasons to be a Lead and Change trainer

Are you an experienced trainer with an ability to inspire and challenge officers to learn? Are you available to deliver training to officers during July and/or August? If the answer is ‘yes’ – we want to hear from you!

NUS is currently looking for experienced trainers to take part in training officers over the summer as part of our Lead and Change officer training programme.

Here are a handful of reasons why you should consider putting yourself forward…


1. Development

Lead and Change can offer an exciting development opportunity for someone who is an experienced trainer but hasn’t done an intensive officer training programme previously. The course will be able to offer you a chance to train officers from multiple unions, with different challenges and different ideas. Harnessing that can make for an exciting and fun week!


2. Ideas

For 4 days you will be surrounded with officers who will be sharing ideas within your training group. These ideas can often be a breath of fresh air for you and you can always take something innovative back to your union!


3. Networking

There are up to 100 officers on each Lead and Change course, plus NUS Staff and officers at each event. Use this chance to network with people you will have never have met before and be part of the support network you create at Lead and Change.


4. Challenge

Training on an intensive course can be physically tiring, but also you may be challenged in ways as a trainer that you haven’t been before. Our topics within training are created to challenge officers which can often bring out interesting discussion something that you will be encouraged to facilitate. However you will be supported by a whole team of staff from NUS at each event, and of course supported by your training group!


5. Experience

Lead and Change is a fun, fast-paced, intensive and supportive environment that can provide you with a week of lasting memories! Taking part will provide you with invaluable experience that you can take back to your unions and share.

Please note: Trainers will need to be at the venue from 1pm the day before the course.

You must be available to attend one of the following training briefings (travel expenses will be paid by NUS):

  • Monday 11 July 2016 – NUS London
  • Tuesday 12 July 2016 – NUS London
