#CutTheCosts: John McDonnell among Westminster Lobby speakers

NUS has confirmed the list of speakers at the #CutTheCosts Westminster lobby on 8 December.

Next week students from across the country are travelling to Westminster to lobby their MPs to take action on the spiralling costs and increasing debts faced by students.

The day will see students meet with their MPs and a range of speakers have agreed to address people while they wait.

The confirmed speakers are:

  • Megan Dunn, NUS National President
  • Luciana Berger, Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree and Shadow Minister for Mental Health
  • Paul Blomfield, Labour MP for Sheffield Central and chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on students
  • Gloria De Piero, Labour MP for Ashfield and Shadow Minister for Young People
  • Angela Eagle, Labour MP for Wallasey and Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills
  • Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP for Brighton Pavilion and former leader
  • John McDonnell, Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington and Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer
  • John Pugh, Liberal Democrat Education Spokesperson
  • Tom Rock, Chair of BMA Medical Students Finance Committee
  • Wes Streeting, Labour MP for Ilford North
  • Hywel Williams, Plaid Cymru MP for Arfon
  • Iain Wright, Labour MP for Hartlepool and chair of the Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Select Committee

Speakers will also be present from the SNP, the University and College Union, UNISON, and the TUC.
